Elizabeth Bahmer

I am extremely proud and excited for my fourth, and final, semester as a member of the Terry J. Lundgren’s (TJL) Center for Retailing Student Advisory Board. I am a senior in the Retailing and Consumer Sciences (RCSC) major, with a Business Administration minor. I was raised in Tucson, Arizona and growing up here helped me appreciate the University of Arizona and its offerings so greatly I could not imagine going to another school.

As an undecided college freshman, I went to a Meet Your Major Fair and spoke with ambassadors of the TJL Center for Retailing Student Advisory Board. Their passion for the major and industry inspired me to go to an information session about the RCSC major. Learning about the course work and multiple opportunities available influenced me to change my major, a decision I am extremely happy about. I have never forgotten that meeting at the Meet Your Major Fair and it has inspired me to become a Student Advisory Board Ambassador. It’s my mission to encourage other students to contemplate RCSC as their potential major. As an ambassador I look forward to helping current retailing students find internships and career paths by connecting them to the TJL Center’s Corporate Advisory Board partners.

This past summer I interned for Macy’s in their Store Management internship program in Chandler, AZ. It was an amazing experience and I learned so much. I am proud to announce that I will be continuing my management career in Phoenix, AZ with Macy’s after I graduate in May 2014.

Currently I work at the University of Arizona BookStores as a sales associate and the Greek life merchandise buyer. My time at the Bookstore continues to be a valuable retail experience and has introduced me to many facets of the industry. I look forward to using this experience and my coursework as I work towards my career goals of retail management.

I am eager and enthusiastic about working with my partners, Macy’s, Altria, and the University of Arizona Bookstores and providing them with opportunities for successful student involvement and recruitment on campus.
