Virginia Sims
My name is Virginia Sims and this is my third semester on the board. As Vice Chair, I am head of the Fundraising Committee whose primary goal is to raise money to support the Future Retail Leader Scholarship, which is given to an outstanding retail student at the end of the academic year.
I love being an RCSC major because it specifically focuses on the dynamic Retail Industry that I have always been interested in. It is also a small major, which allows personal growth and development, from the teachers, advisors and staff.
Over the Summer I had the privilege of working with Target in their Executive Internship program at a store here in Tucson. Throughout my internship I was challenged and forced outside of my comfort zone, which taught me a great deal and enabled me to grow both personally and professionally. I am excited to work as an Executive Team Leader for Target in Tucson upon my graduation in December 2009.
This Semester I am the student liaison for Target, Wells Fargo and Office Depot, and look forward to the hands-on-experience I will gain through working closely with my companies when they visit on campus. I hope to be able to form successful relationships with the rest of the Center's corporate partners, and hopefully usher in new partners that will benefit the students within the Retail Program.
