A Student Assistant's Perspective

As a student assistant at the RCSC Center, I've found a role that offers far more than just a part-time campus job – it's been an enormous learning opportunity for both my personal and professional growth.

My primary responsibility is managing our social media presence, where I create engaging reels and conduct interviews with faculty and students. I also keep our website current, design eye-catching flyers and infographics for events, and handle various administrative tasks, from creating tutorial videos to organizing our spaces.

One of the most valuable aspects of this position is the opportunity to attend all center events, including career talks and workshops. Being involved in event setup has given me incredible networking opportunities with recruiters who visit the center – connections that are invaluable for any student's future career.

Working alongside Sheila and Elena has been an exceptional mentorship experience. They support my academic pursuits while providing constructive feedback for goal setting, resume review, and writing recommendations for internship applications. As a transfer student who joined the RCSC program later than most, this role has helped me build meaningful connections within our community. The position has boosted my confidence in professional settings and improved my ability to connect with new people.
