Hello, my name is Rochelle Gardner and I am a Merchandise Operations Leader for JCPenney in Goodyear, Arizona. I graduated from the RCSC program in 2008 where I was in top 10% GPA for my graduating class. My success with JCPenney is a direct result of the experience I had in the Retailing and Consumer Sciences program. My career with JCPenney dates back to my senior year at UofA. I spoke to JCPenney at the fall career fair and was hired to start upon graduation in May. I started 6 years ago as a Sales Manager Trainee where I trained in the kid's and men's department and a second phase of training in the fine jewelry department. I then went on to hold the following positions: Sales Manager Home Department, Store Engagement Manager, Talent Resource Leader, and Merchandise Operations Leader. I love working for a company that recognizes and promotes for exceeding performance expectations. I am on a career path to become a Store Leader within the next 6-12 months. JCPenney is the company for me because they understand a work/life balance, because I have fun everyday when I go to work, and most importantly because I get to develop, train, and lead my associates. In my current role as Merchandise Operations Leader I am responsible for all operations of the store including: receiving and restocking merchandise, floor moves and monthly sets, setting mannequins and visual properties, pricing and signing, clearance markdowns, and much more. I oversee a team of 20+ that I coach and educate everyday for the success of our business. I am excited to continue my growth within the JCPenney company and see where my career path takes me!
