Entrepreneurial spirit has always been in my blood. As a kid I would spend my play hours creating jewelry, toys, and other crafts to sell to the neighborhood kids.
In every job I’ve had that entrepreneurial itch would be there, and I’d spend my time at home thinking up businesses and dreaming of one day being on my own. At first I wasn’t sure about what major could take me there, but the retailing program sounded promising. To sum it simply, picking this major ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made.
I was able to build a business concept that summed up my passions, and the needs I felt weren’t met in the market. I took this concept further with the honors program under the guidance of the retailing professors.
Three months prior to graduating, I was offered a job that was similar to I was doing with my entrepreneurial business. Currently, I have been learning the ropes through them, while building my own business on the side.
I’ve been extremely grateful for all the support and assistance received from the college. It’s just the end to a new beginning for me, and I can’t wait to see where it all goes in just a few more months!
